History: Doddridge County received its first public library in 1952. Originally, the library was housed in the basement of the county courthouse, but 13 years later it was relocated to West Union’s old opera house. The library was expanded and renovated in 1977 and a branch library at Center Point was added in 1978. The Doddridge County library moved into its new facility on Marie Street in 2016. The two libraries serve more than 8,200 residents.
